Welcome to Peace in Action! We are Dr. Gerri Budd and Professor Donnalynn Scillieri, and are very happy to meet you and to share our university experience with you. Peace in Action, Inc is an educational firm providing workshops, classes, and programs to help our clients create workplaces and study spaces that are more open, civil, welcoming, and inclusive. The curriculum and material were designed by two university professors to create a safe space to talk about Racism, Sexism and LGBT in the post pandemic world.

Peace in Action, Inc is a Small Business (SBE) and Women Certification Program (WBE) who supplies the tools for everyone to become kinder, and more understanding towards each other in more productive and healthier work or school environments.

This course is a brief explainer of the broad outlines of the history of racism in American history and how it has informed our institutions and public discourse.


What you’ll learn

  • With a Certificate of Completion, our graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate cultural competency to potential employers with their interest in and knowledge of inclusion, equality and belonging;

  • Delve into socially constructed systems of oppression, patriarchy, racism, classism, gender biases, and heterosexism;

  • Show knowledge of past and present racist practices and attitudes in the US.


Are there any course requirements or prerequisites?

  • The only requirement is the desire to expand your knowledge base. You should have a willingness to cultivate within yourself a new perspective to embrace inclusion, equality, and belonging through a lens of diversity.

  • Technical requirement: access to a computer running Windows 10 or above (or the Apple equivalent) with 32MB of RAM (64MB recommended) and internet access.
