Description

Having worked for the United Nations for over a decade and being aware that most United Nations job vacancies and job postings can be confusing and do not offer you any insight into the actual day-to-day work, I am happy to share what is the coolest thing about my job at the UN.

I hope that this video helps you to better understand how a typical day at the UN looks like, and helps you manage your expectations and avoids frustration and increase the chances of a successful application.

The video aims to answer some of the following questions, I've got asked by mid career professionals and students: What is a typical working day at the UN? What does it mean to work for United Nations? Is working for the UN worth it? How hard is it to work for the UN? What shall I study to work for the United Nations? Are you the right fit for the UN? Is a UN job the right career for you? What can you expect working for the United Nations? What are the benefits of working for the United Nations? What is it like to work for the United Nations? Why do you want to work for the United Nations? What do you do when you work for the United Nations? Why I want to work for the United Nations? The UNjobs, UN system and benefits.

Finding the ‘right’ U.N. system organisation that matches ones profile, skills and competencies, can lead to a fulfilling career where one can get the chance to leave an important impact on the world. It means working with people from all over the world, getting to know different cultures and strengthening ones multicultural team working skills while working on a good cause for human mankind and our planet.

Gaining a job at an intergovernmental organisation like the United Nations or World Bank, as you might  know, isn’t like most professions and requires some thought around how to build your experience and skills to your desired role and how to prepare for the sometimes rather complex and time-consuming U.N. application and interview process.

This short career guidance course aims to highlight possible ways and methods on how you can kickstart your global career and provide expert advice on how to best prepare for an international career with an intergovernmental organisation like the U.N., the World Bank as well as International Development Banks.
