In this course you are presented all the problems relating to calibration of electronic systems onboard a sailing yacht. The course is divided in various classes (one for each sensor-value to calibrate). We teach the best procedure to calibrate, but we also explain the physical / scientific reasons behind these procedures; we try to share a method that goes beyond the simple "push this button, then this, then this..." but we want the students to understand the logic that lays behind it and to allow them to apply these principles on different boats with different electronic systems.
The last section is dedicated to the setting of the autopilot; autopilot calibration is very different from other calibrations, but we decided to add this section to complete the "set of parameters" that the user must enter into the electronic system to make it work properly.
Calibrating the instruments onboard is important both for cruising and for racing. It is very important for the safety of your navigation and also to improve performances and optimize the trip.
Students that learn from this class will also feel more confident when chartering a boat or sailing on a different boat from usual.
You will overall become a better sailor after this course!
