In this course, we will explore various modes of analytical thinking techniques and skills that have been employed in analytical philosophy and philosophy of science. In particular, we will explore analytical methods that are employed in current analytic philosophy such as analogical reasoning and logical constructions, and also reductive analysis and grounding claims that have to do with uncovering and evaluating the grounds that support the truth of our beliefs; also we will explore analytical methods that have been used by famous philosophers like Rene Descartes when they were dealing with hard philosophical problems and much more. Also, we will see abductive reasoning that is related to uncovering hidden factors in causal explanations and enable us to build good explanations of phenomena and also assess the explanation of others.

You do not need to have a background in philosophy since this course is for exploring methods of thought. These tools can enhance substantially your analytical skills and can be thoroughly applied to day-to-day communication, at debates that you may have on a particular subject such as philosophy, politics, psychology, etc., it can help you during writing an analysis about a particular topic at your university and many more.
