Description

Prehabilitation is something that is common place in the human world.

Here we learn how to implement it in the veterinary world.

Everyone has heard of rehabilitation. But what happens before this?

There is so much more we can do before surgery to ensure the best possible outcome after surgery. We can support the owner and patient mentally and physically. Prehab is diverse and includes not only an exercise plan to reduce muscle loss, but also other aspects of the life, like ensuring the owner knows how to prepare the home for the post op care and make sure they are ready for what they may have to go through.

As an animal lover and career or worker in the veterinary and rehabilitation industry, its important to see how we can support owners more, and in turn increase the successful outcome for the patients going through surgery

In this course, you will learn what prehab is and why it is so important.

  • You will learn the diverse nature of this phase of preparation and how it supports not only the patient but also the owner. Supporting the owner means less stress and better understanding for everyone.

  • You will learn the questions to ask so you can formulate a prehab plan that is bespoke for your patient.

  • We then move onto how we implement the plan and what aspects of the body and its healing process, we take into account and support, to ensure it is healing at its optimum rate.

  • We will touch on a variety of subjects within this topic and see how we can implement each area to set everyone up for success.
