If price will go down and be lower than strike price on this contract investor will be assigned or put the stock from this contract ( usually 100 shares per contract).
And if investor does not want it s/he should try to predict the way stock will go after s/he sold the options. For greater benefit stock should go up and has the price greater than strike price of the contract at the expiration day.
