Understanding Theology from the Bible matters. Everyone is a theologian because everyone has thoughts about God. The question is, Are you a good theologian or a bad theologian? As followers of Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to grow in our knowledge of the truth so that we might love the Lord and others more. This class, which is part of a four part series, is designed to give an overview of the theological truths that accord with Christian orthodoxy. This section will specifically address truths related to God, the Bible, Humanity, and Sin.
In this course, we will discuss arguments for the existence of God, examine passages of Scripture that tell us about who God is, begin to unpack the glorious doctrine of the Trinity, and examine how God works in the world. We will then examine the Bible: understanding it’s divine origin, its freedom from error, its sufficiency to speak to the most important matters of life, its ability to be understood, its authority over our lives, and its necessity for knowing God. Finally, we will look at humanity, as we discuss what it means to be created in the image of God, as we hear from God what our purpose in life is, and we will see how we have tragically fallen short of that purpose because of sin.
