This class covers the history of Disneyland from its planning until Walt Disney's Death in late 1966. The class begins with a history of amusement parks in America, then discusses Walt's early ideas about making a park of his own. The class will then study the life of Walt Disney and how his concept for the park developed over time. You will learn about all the ideas that didn't make it into the park and why.
Dr. Marley is a former Disney Cast member and fills the class with personal stories to help explain this fascinating place. The class will focus on the history of the park, how it has changed, how it is managed, and its impact on Orange County, and the world. Finally, the class ends with a special lesson of the many attractions at Disneyland that have closed over the years.
