Description

Do you need to present financial values in English in a meeting? The values could be sales, costs or net income, or maybe production numbers. Do you need to also provide a summary description or analysis in words? Are you seeking a position in which you may have to perform these functions? If so, then this Course is for you!

Taught by a former financial market economist, New York business consultant and currently the founder of a business English language school, you'll learn:

(1) How to work with large numbers. How to read them, understand them, and make quick reference to them without having to say the entire number. You'll practice your skill at writing down large numbers that are spoken to you.

(2) How to present financial values such as sales, costs and net income, as you might do in a business meeting, and compare them to values of a prior period, including how to describe the change.

(3) How to read, understand and analyze an Income Statement of a large, multinational company to identify the main factors driving performance.

(4) You'll learn words, phrases and expressions in English that are typically used when describing financial performance. You'll also learn how to avoid the word, 'because' and the excessive use of the word, 'and'.

(5) Putting it all together, you'll learn step-by-step how to write a summary description of financial performance that condenses a page of data into just a few sentences. This is a skill that will serve you well throughout your business career.

There are a few exercises in this Course which you should attempt to do on your own before watching the accompanying video for the answers with explanations.

To get the most from this Course, your English proficiency level should be intermediate or higher.
