  • We will explore the 5 elemental energies and how to identify which energy dominates us.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the 3 doshas, their characteristics and attributes, site within the body, and how our dosha influences mind and body
  • Students will develop a deep understanding into their nature and also learn how to read other peoples energetic (doshic) makeup.
  • We will discuss how diet and lifestyle greatly influence our constitution, what will swing us out of balance and what we can do to regain balance
  • We will explore the 3 dosha in life, work and love and will also learn about the combination dosha that exisit
  • Students will have the opportunity to assesses their own prakriti and vrikruti
  • We will dive deep into Ayurvedic nutrition learning about the 6 stages of digestion, Different types of Agni, Ama, The 6 tastes, and best foods for each dosha
  • Lastly, students will explore the spiritual side of Ayurveda looking at the 3 cosmic forces, the 3 universal gunas, and the 5 koshas
  • Explore the causes of disease according to Ayurveda, Stages and path of Disease
  • Learn about the Ayurvedic Diagnostic tools and practices such as pulse, tongue eye, and nail analysis
  • Explore Panchkarma and shatkarma

Description

Ayurveda is the oldest surviving medical system in the world. It is known as the sister science of Yoga and is the science of life. Translated from the Sanskrit words Ayur (life) and Veda (knowledge) Ayurveda is a medical system from India with origins dating back over 5000 years.

Ayurveda is much more than just a system of medicine. It looks at an individual from a holistic perspective and embraces medical science, philosophy, psychology, alchemy, and spiritual understanding as well as astrology and astronomy. It includes lifestyle guidance, herbal medicine, nutrition, detoxification, massage, and other body work, plus spiritual practices. It offers complete guidance in preventative care and treatment through its 8 main branches.

Ayurveda empowers us to take our health into our own hands by providing simple practices that can be easily incorporated in our lives to ensure a happier, healthier life.

When you learn about yourself from an ayurvedic perspective, you can’t help but act with more mindfulness around how your choices will interact with your mind and body.

This foundations course we will introduce students to Ayurveda, it's fundamental concepts and principles so we can begin to implement practices into our daily life that will greatly improve our health and wellbeing.  Once integrated and embodied, you will be able to share this with others and inspire them to also take their health into their own hands.

  • 3 Main Pillars of Ayurveda

  • The Elements in Nature and Ourselves

  • The 3 Doshas and how their characteristics influence life, work, love, communication, digestion

  • Ayurvedic Nutrition, Agni, The 6 Tastes, Poor Food Combinations, Best foods for each Dosha

  • The Srotas, The Dhatus, Ama

  • Dinacharya & Ritucharya

  • The Spiritual Side of Ayurveda including The Three Cosmic Forces, The 3 Universal Qualities, and The Koshas

  • The Manifestation of Disease, causes, stages, path of disease according to Ayurveda

  • Ayurvedic Diagnosis techniques

  • Direct Observation techniques

  • Pulse, Tongue, Nail, Eye analysis

  • Introduction to Panchkarma

  • Introduction to Shatkarma (yogic cleansing techniques for comparison)
